Panelist:
Lisa Pickersgill

After moving from Pittsburgh to Clearwater, Lisa Pickersgill quickly found her passion with the Starlite Cruises Entertainment company, learning how to plan and coordinate group events, weddings and yacht charters.  Looking for more growth, she found the hotel industry! Starting as a Sales Manager at a Homewood Suites by Hilton, then growing into a Catering Manager at the Grand Plaza Hotel on St. Pete Beach. Transitioning from the beach life to corporation heaven, she went to work for a Springhill Suites by Marriott.  Afterward, she prospered as an Operations Manager at a Homewood Suites where she implemented that company’s first GREEN Lodging Program earning a Palm 1 Designation and helped with the company’s Task Force spending time with Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard and Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

Bringing her to the east coast, she was a Dual DOS for a Homewood and Springhill in West Palm Beach. Always gravitating to the Hilton family of brands, she is now Director of Sales at the DoubleTree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in Palm Beach Gardens.  Her introduction to the property’s LEED Certified and IACC approved EMC has renewed her passion for sustainability.  Now, she is focused on educating meeting industry leaders on why they want a sustainable event center – what it can do for their brand and their bottom line.

Panelist:
Kelly Murphy

Kelly Murphy began her career in hospitality at her family's restaurant, then continued in hotel F&B before segueing into the special events rental industry in 1992, when she and husband, Bob DeFriest founded Panache Party Rentals. From humble beginnings, their small mom & pop business grew and was listed as 15th largest in the nation in 2006. Panache was acquired by nationally based Classic Party Rentals when the two merged in 2007.

After retiring (for 5 minutes) in 2015, Kelly knew she wanted to revisit the industry using her extensive experience in a creative way.  Events on the Loose and Chefs on the Loose were born. Finding elements that can have a new life with a little love is also part of this newest adventure.

Kelly attributes her success to the community she loves, builds, and invests her time in. Because Community is a priority for Kelly, she is involved with industry organizations, along with local agencies supporting children and the mission to eliminate hunger through education, events and food rescue.
