Hospitality in the 21st Century – A South Florida Sampling

 

Discover what today’s hospitality students are learning and how you can work with them to improve your meetings and events business.  You will learn how to “give back” to education, and how to further your own education through certificates, designations or perhaps even finishing a degree. Don’t miss this opportunity to glimpse into changing work force and how many of the future leaders will have bachelor's degrees specific to the meetings industry.

Peter Ricci, EdD, CHA, CHSE, CRME
Director, Hospitality Management Program
Florida Atlantic University

Dr. Peter Ricci, CHA, CHSE, CRME is director of the hospitality management program at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, Florida.

Peter has published over 35 articles on various lodging management topics and has co-authored The Little Book of Big Cases for the Hospitality Manager.

 

Ron Kron
Assistant Professor Hospitality & Tourism Management

Rick Kron has managed and/or consulted with hotel, restaurant and private club operators throughout the United States, the Caribbean, South America and Japan including Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Ritz-Carlton and numerous non-affiliated hotels, restaurants and private clubs. His positions included General Manager (10 years), various other executive hospitality management positions (15 years), Manager of Consulting Division of International Accounting Firm (Pannell Kerr Forster – 6 years) and educator (4 years).

 


Stella Quintero

Hospitality Professor Institute for Hospitality Innovation Research and Education
Lynn University 
Stella Quintero has been the Program Coordinator and Hospitality Professor at Lynn University for the past 6 years. During her time at Lynn University, Ms. Quintero has been responsible for the successful development of educational food and wine programs, the launch and management of the Lynn University Switzerland Program, and the conversion of the hospitality curriculum to an online format, among others. Most recently, Ms. Quintero was on the Planning Committee of the most significant event that has been held at Lynn University, the Final Presidential Debate in October 2012.

 

Learner Outcomes:

1.      Learn the differences between types of South Florida Hospitality Programs.
2.      How to find interns from these programs.
3.      Glimpse into a changing work force.
